Parkdale oregon to reno nevada8/30/2023 ![]() Weather changes sometimes here on hourly basis, literally. Here in Bend we have had a lot of rain and snow at the high elevations in the past few days. The potential for snow and ice and iffy weather is greater as the fall progresses. For reference, it takes us about twelve hours to get to Fernley/Fallon from Portland, where we stay over before continuing on to DV. The other route which comes up is down to Sacramento and then over to Reno, all on interstates. I would think is would be longer and more mountain conditions. I don't know that other route you just mentioned. On the other hand the other route mentioned takes you through the Summer Lake area and the neat little town of Paisley where the gal at the coffee stand bakes homemade banana bread.īoth routes mentioned take about the same amount of time. If you go that route in Merrill, south of KF, Tacos A La Mexican is very good local spot. Our route 58 down the east side into 97 is calm and straight. Klamath Falls is the only real congested area we encounter.įor us, 26 is way out of the way and involves having to go through slow traffic in Gresham, Sandy and some in Madras and Redmond though the drive into an out of Warms Springs is great and the cascade views are great too. I personally really like driving along Klamath Lake. 58 SE is so easy, driving through Oakridge is easy, the pass is the smoothest in the state. We generally leave by six am on a Saturday, so no traffic for us I-5 southbound. You might have a different experience coming from Longview and dealing with Portland traffic, depending on time of day. My route is just based on experience and that it works for us best by far from our south Portland location. Your drive as it will connect you back to 395 without going into Susanville. You can turn left at the gas station to catch the "turn off there" that will take miles and time off ![]() On your drive once you get into Standish CA its a very small town just prior to Susanville There would be a few places you could stop for an overnight stay and not break your budgetīecause for me that would be a VERY long day. Please note that from Bend to Reno even on a good dry day it is an 8 hour drive.īased on the time you plan to travel take into consideration black ice and shorter days There are many stopping places along the way should you need a rest or to stretch your It is much easier and user friendly in my opinion and will not take you along Klamath Lake Totally agree with captvic4 and the route. We have traveled in 40 foot RV with tow so will base my answer on that. Our family lives in Reno area and we drive it many times each year
